Kayamkulam kochunni Review by SM :
*Kayamkulam Kochunni : Saga of a Philanthropist thief*
In the context of application of graphics/vfx and big budget, Malayalam movie is now in its transition stage. Movies are finely fabricating with market capturing elements. But in past era, the art value of mollywood movies were in its zenith and the elements such as reality, human emotions and micro mannerisms were the key factors of malayalam movies. The movies that blends above mentioned past and present characteristics are necessary in future scenario of malayalam movie industry. Without doubt we can say the newly released malayalam movie "kayamkulam kochunni" falls under this category.
After having a huge, the movie Kayamkulam Kochunni is in the silver screen. Without compromising the artistic value, the movie draws attention of audience with commercial elements too. The movie revolves around the story of Kochunni, who was the son of a petty thief. Circumstances lead Kochunni to become a well known thief and make fear among the riches. The humanitarian side of Kochunni impress the common man. They are the supporters of Kochunni. The movie develops with life of Kochunni and the director carve out the stages in Kochunni's life in vary an attractive manner. The movie surely will be a visual treat to all, especially one who is eagar to see our past culture. Sound effects, Background Score etc are of above average. Nivin pauly performed well as Kochunni but at some points show some limitations. The heroine is below average but the supporting actors done their part very well. Mohanlal who depicted the role of Ithikkara Pakki is outstanding and who stole the whole show. Mind blowing performance by Lalettan is certainly a crowd pulling aspect of this movie. The story-line tried to satisfy the image of the hero in audience mind that told in folk story of Kayamkulam Kochunni which was read by Malayali through the famous literary work Iytheehyamala by Kottarathil Shankunni. However, the attempt by the director Roshan Andrews certainly deserves appreciation as the movie creates decent response from the audience. We suggest you to enjoy the movie in theaters with family and surely worth the money.
